Tim Stevens
Tim Stevens has led the congregational singing for our lectureship every year since 2012. His ministry in song is a vital part of the program each summer.
Timothy Paul Stevens was born on December 17, 1951 in Houston, Texas. He married Vicki Lee Mullins in 1976. They have three daughters (Rebecca Helvey, Kayleen Dennis, and Penny Simpson), four grandsons, and four granddaughters. Tim’s father, R.J. Stevens, led the singing at the lectures for 31 years.
Tim studied music at Florida College and San Bernardino Valley College. After working in the railroad industry for 17 years, he began preaching the gospel for the Rio Grande Valley church in Belen, New Mexico in 1990. He served as the local preacher in Kemp, Texas from 1997-2014.
Brother Stevens travels extensively to preach gospel meetings and conduct song worship training series for congregations throughout the United States. The Southside church is pleased to assist him with financial support in this worthy endeavor. This summer, Tim will serve as co-director of the 41st annual Singing School in Wilburton, Oklahoma as well as direct the 10th annual Middle Tennessee Song Leader Workshop in Murfreesboro. He also remains active in R.J. Stevens Music, a company he and his father founded to keep brethren supplied with hymnals and materials for song worship.
We are pleased with Tim’s return to this year’s Southside Lectures.
