Don Truex was the preacher here at Southside from 1986 to 1990. He remains highly respected and loved by this church. We are happy to have him here for the 2008 program.

Don was born to Brother and Sister Claude Truex in July, 1957 in Oxnard, California. He was well acquainted with preaching early on since his father was himself a gospel preacher for 60 years. After high school, Don attended Florida College (1975-1976) and The University of Louisville (1976-77). He was graduated from Indiana University in 1982 with a degree in Political Science. Don is married to the former Vickie King. They have a daughter, Heather Truex Rae, and a son, Joshua Donald.

Brother Truex began his preaching in Mt. Washington, Kentucky in 1976. He has since worked with congregations at Silver Street in New Albany, Indiana, and twice at Plainfield, Indiana (1984-86 and again from1990-1994). Since 1994, he has labored effectively with the Temple Terrace church in Temple Terrace, Florida, near Tampa.

Don is a powerful preacher and a gifted orator. In addition to his extensive meeting work, he has done foreign work in Russia and Italy. You will enjoy hearing him again in this year’s edition of the Southside Lectures.
