We are pleased that Lawrence Kelley has come home for this edition of the Southside Lectures. He labored here from 1990-1992 in the preacher training program. He is still greatly admired here, both for his love for the truth and the masterful way in which he proclaims it.
Lawrence was born in Amarillo, Texas in 1968. After high school, he furthered his education at the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Alabama. He has been married to the former Janice Simmons for 34 years. They have four children (Chase, Olivia, William, and Joshua) and five grandchildren.
Brother Kelley began preaching while attending school in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Following his tenure at Southside, he moved to Port Arthur, Texas where he worked with the Stonegate (now Memorial) congregation for over ten years. For the past twenty years, he has labored as a minister at the Lost River Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky where he also serves as an elder.
Lawrence Kelley is in high demand for gospel meetings each year and has made several evangelistic trips to China. But his first love and responsibility is for his local work as a shepherd and a preacher. His compassion and concern for the souls of men qualify him to boldly declare our theme for 2022: “The Gospel is For All.”
Welcome back to Southside and to the lectures, Lawrence.
