Colly Caldwell

Colly Caldwell

Charles Grover Caldwell III, affectionately known as “Colly,” is from a family of preachers. His grandfather, father, and two brothers devoted their lives to preaching the gospel.  Through the years of his life, Colly’s first love has always been preaching.

Brother Caldwell was born in Clarksville, Tennessee. He received an A.A. from Florida College, a B.A. from Abilene Christian University, an M.A. from Middle Tennessee State and a Ph. D. from Vanderbilt University.  He is married to the former Lynda Joyce Adair, a fine lady of distinction. They have a son, “Chuck” (C.G. Caldwell IV), a daughter, Sherri, and three grandsons.

Dr. Caldwell served in several capacities at Florida College: professor of Bible and Restoration History, Dean of Students, Academic Dean and Vice President before being named the fourth President of the school in 1991.  He held this position until 2009 when he resigned to devote all his time to preaching and teaching.

Colly is currently serving as a preacher as well as one of the elders of the congregation at Citrus Park in Tampa, Florida.  He has been widely used in gospel meetings and has written extensively. His two contributions to the Truth Commentary series on Luke and Ephesians are both scholarly and practical.

We feel fortunate to have Colly Caldwell and his effective manner in the pulpit here for this special series on “Living for Jesus.”
