Since 2012, Tim Stevens has led the congregational singing for the Southside Lectures. His participation is a vital part in the success of our program year after year.
Timothy Paul Stevens was born to R.J. and Pauline Stevens on December 17, 1951 in Houston, Texas. He married Vicki Lee Mullins in 1976. They have three daughters (Rebecca Helvey, Kayleen Dennis, and Penny Simpson), four grandsons and four granddaughters.
In addition to the music training he received from his father, Tim studied music at Florida College and San Bernardino Valley College. After working in the railroad industry for 17 years, he began preaching the gospel for the Rio Grande Valley church in Belen, New Mexico in 1990. He served as the local preacher in Kemp, Texas from 1997-2014. He and Vicki now reside in Lindale, Texas.
Brother Stevens travels extensively to preach gospel meetings and conduct song worship training series for congregations across the country. The Southside church is pleased to offer him financial support for this worthy endeavor. Since 1989, he has served as co-director of the annual Singing School in Wilburton, Oklahoma. With his father, he also wrote and published several books to help song leaders and worshipers alike. In 2005, they founded R. J. Stevens Music, LLC in order to publish their own hymnals, recordings, and song worship training materials, including an instructional DVD set.
Welcome back, Tim Stevens, to the 40th edition of the lectures.
