Terry Slack was a speaker on the 2008 Southside Lectures. He was well received by our brethren, and we feel fortunate that he agreed to return for this special series on “Do You Know My Jesus?”
Brother Slack hails from the northeast. He and his twin brother were born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania on January 1, 1960. When he was twelve, his family moved to Clermont, Florida. Terry was brought to the Lord by his girlfriend, Beverly Love. Beverly’s father, Vernon Love, was a faithful gospel preacher for many years. Terry and Beverly celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary earlier this year. They have two daughters, Alicia Miller and Amanda O’Banion, and three granddaughters.
Terry began preaching in 1985, working in a training program while with the Par Street congregation in Orlando. Upon his retirement from Publix Supermarkets at the age of 26, he and his family moved to Marion, Indiana where he began full-time work with the Woodland Hills congregation. After 12 years in Indiana, they moved to Arlington, Texas to labor with the Northwest church. Terry has been there for 21 years and now serves as one of the shepherds of the flock.
In addition to his local work, brother Slack holds several gospel meetings a year throughout the country. His writings have appeared in multiple publications produced by our brethren. We welcome him and his humble demeanor once again to the lectures.
