Rickie Jenkins’ father, Jesse Jenkins, has been preaching the gospel for 68 years, so he is no stranger to gospel peaching. However, it was not his intention to be a preacher. Following his graduation from what was then East Texas State with a Bachelor of Science degree, he taught Vocational Agriculture in high school. After three years, he became convinced that he should preach the gospel of Christ.
He began his new work at Oakwood, Texas in July, 1979. Since then he has preached for congregations in Del Rio and Conroe, Texas. In 1991, he moved to the Campbell Road church in Garland, Texas, where he serves as a preacher as well as an elder. There, he is also involved in mentoring young men who want to preach. Rickie is one of the editors of Focus Online magazine.
Brother Jenkins and his wife Jody (his high school sweetheart whom he married 44 years ago) have two children, Codie and Kam, and 8 grandchildren. Codie and his wife, Kody, live in Lufkin, Texas and have four sons: Cason, Eli, Riley, and Easton. Kam Armstrong and her husband, Chris, live in Abilene, Texas and have four children: Evan, Ty, Brooks, and Macoy.
We welcome Rickie Jenkins back to our lectures. He is an excellent communicator of the gospel message. His knowledge of the Scriptures and his attractive enthusiasm in the presentation of them will bring good things to this year’s Southside Lectures.
