Song worship is a vital part of The Southside Lectures each summer. We are honored to have Tim Stevens here to lead us in congregation singing for the seventh year in a row.
Timothy Paul Stevens was born to R.J. and Pauline Stevens on December 17, 1951 in Houston, Texas. He married Vicki Lee Mullins in 1976. They have three daughters (Rebecca Helvey, Kayleen Dennis, and Penny Simpson) and eight grandchildren. Stricken with cancer last year, Vicki is now in remission for which we thank and praise the Great Physician.
In addition to the music training he received from his father, Tim studied music at Florida College and San Bernardino Valley College. After working in the railroad industry for 17 years, he began preaching the gospel in Belen, New Mexico in 1990. In 1997, he moved to Kemp, Texas where he labored as the local preacher until 2014.
Brother Stevens now travels extensively to preach gospel meetings and conduct song worship training series. Since 1989, he has served as co-director of the annual Singing School held in Wilburton, Oklahoma. With his father, he also wrote several books: Rudiments of Sight Singing and Song Directing, Where Roses Never Fade, Scripture and Song for Worship & Devotions, and Worshipful Hymns and Stories. In 2005, they founded R. J. Stevens Music in order to publish their song worship training materials.
Tim Stevens is an extraordinary talent in the kingdom. We welcome him back to this special edition of the lectures.
